• Shakti Kapoor and Shreeram Lagoo first faced off in Sargam (1979) because director K. Viswanath needed a villain who could match Lagoo's quiet menace. Kapoor was still a newcomer; Lagoo was already a stage legend. Viswanath bet the film's tension on their age gap — and it worked.
• In Lootmaar (1980), Lagoo played the calm, calculating mastermind while Kapoor was the loud, sweaty henchman. Kapoor later said Lagoo would deliberately lower his voice during their scenes, forcing Kapoor to stop shouting and actually act with his eyes. That's how Kapoor learned restraint.
• On the sets of Maqsad (1984), Lagoo — a trained doctor — noticed Kapoor was constantly losing his voice. He quietly started bringing him a thermos of warm honey-lemon water every morning before their scenes. Kapoor never asked; Lagoo never mentioned it. They just did it for three films straight.
