• They first shared screen space in Jaani Dushman (1979), but the real spark came when Vinod Mehra stepped in to replace an ailing co-star at the last minute. Shatrughan Sinha later said Mehra's professionalism on that chaotic set made them plan more films together.
• In Chor Police (1983), Shatrughan played the loud, aggressive cop while Vinod played the soft, comic sidekick. The trick was simple: Sinha set the bombastic pace, and Mehra underplayed every reaction — making Sinha's anger look funnier and Mehra's fear look real.
• Their only film that didn't bomb was Chor Police (1983), which ran for 25 weeks in Mumbai. That success directly led to producer K.C. Bokadia casting them together again in Jeene Nahi Doonga (1984) — a film that otherwise would never have been greenlit.
