Partnership facts

• Bokadia cast Kapoor as the villain in Tyaagi (1992) after seeing him play a menacing role in a different film. Kapoor later said Bokadia was one of the few producers who gave him a full arc instead of just a few scenes.
• On the set of Zulm-O-Sitam (1998), Bokadia let Kapoor improvise most of his dialogue. Kapoor would rewrite his lines in the morning, and Bokadia would adjust the scene around him — a rare freedom for a character actor in the 90s.
• Kapoor and Bokadia stayed in touch for over two decades after Tyaagi. When Bokadia struggled to get Deewana Main Deewana (2013) financed, Kapoor agreed to work for a fraction of his usual fee to help the project move forward.
• Kapoor once told a trade magazine: 'Bokadia sahab ne mujhe woh role diye jo doosre producers nahi dete the — villain bhi, lekin insaaniyat ke saath.' (Bokadia gave me roles other producers wouldn't — villains, but with humanity.)
• Deewana Main Deewana (2013) was the last film Bokadia directed before retiring. Kapoor's performance in it was singled out by a few critics as the only reason to watch — a small but final ripple of their 21-year working relationship.
