• Venkatesh was already a star when Ravi Raja Pinisetty cast him in Chanti (1992). But the director had to convince Venkatesh to play a double role — the actor was worried it would look gimmicky. Ravi Raja shot the climax first to prove it would work.
• Ravi Raja Pinisetty built Chanti around Venkatesh’s comic timing. He gave the actor long, unbroken takes in the comedy scenes — no cuts, no reaction shots. Venkatesh had to hold the rhythm alone. That became the film’s signature.
• Chanti’s double role formula was so successful that Ravi Raja Pinisetty reused it in Kondapalli Raja (1993) — again with Venkatesh playing twin brothers. That film directly inspired the 1995 Tamil hit 'Muthu' (Rajinikanth’s double role), which Ravi Raja later remade in Telugu.
• Venkatesh and Ravi Raja Pinisetty were childhood friends before they worked together. They grew up in the same neighbourhood in Andhra Pradesh. Ravi Raja’s father was a film producer, and Venkatesh’s family was already in the industry — but they bonded over cricket, not cinema.
• Ravi Raja Pinisetty once said in an interview: 'Venkatesh is the only hero who never asked me to change a single scene. He trusted my madness completely.' He was referring to the climax of Chanti, where Venkatesh fights himself in a mirror.
