Partnership facts

• Sripriya was already a star when she agreed to play opposite R. S. Manohar in Thanikattu Raja (1982). She later said she took the role because Manohar's intensity in villain roles scared her — and she wanted to see if he could be romantic.
• In Naane Varuven (1992), Manohar played a double role — one a gentle father, the other a ruthless killer. Sripriya reportedly told the director that Manohar switched between the two so fast on set that she forgot which character she was reacting to.
• During the shoot of Pagadai Panirendu (1992), Sripriya and Manohar would rehearse their scenes in the car on the way to the set. Manohar insisted on driving himself, and Sripriya later joked that she learned more about acting from those 20-minute drives than from any director.
• Sripriya once said in an interview: 'Manohar sir never raised his voice on set. But when the camera rolled, his eyes did all the shouting. I had to match that without words.'
• Their third film together, Pagadai Panirendu (1992), was the only Tamil film where both leads played dual roles — and it directly inspired a wave of double-role comedies in the early 90s, including the cult hit 'Ullathai Allitha'.
