• Santhanam and Jai first teamed up for Bramman (2014) because director K. S. Ravikumar wanted a comedy duo that could match the film's rural setting. Santhanam was already a star comedian, but Jai was struggling after a string of flops — this pairing was a calculated gamble to revive both their careers.
• In Idhu Namma Aalu (2016), Santhanam played the straight man to Jai's hyperactive lover boy. Jai later admitted in an interview that Santhanam would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery to make Jai's frantic energy pop more on screen.
• During the shoot of Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum (2016), the two shared a hotel room for three weeks in a small town near Tirunelveli. They reportedly spent nights rewriting the script's comedy scenes together, often keeping the crew laughing until 3 AM.
• Their 2017 film Enakku Vaitha Adimaigal was the first Tamil movie where Santhanam played a full-length lead role without a separate hero — Jai was the supporting actor. That film directly paved the way for Santhanam's solo hero career, starting with Dhilluku Dhuddu (2016) and later Server Sundaram (2017).
• Jai once said about Santhanam: 'He doesn't just make you laugh — he makes you a better actor. When I'm opposite him, I know I have to raise my game because he's always thinking three scenes ahead.'
• In Vettai Mannan (2017), their last film together, Santhanam improvised an entire 4-minute sequence where he pretended to be a police officer's long-lost son. Jai had to react live without a script — the director kept the camera rolling because Jai's genuine confusion made the scene funnier.
