• Sakthi Chidambaram was a struggling assistant director when he got his big break as a lead in 'Maha Nadigan' (2004). The director picked Namitha as the heroine because she was already a known face from item numbers — but Sakthi was so nervous on the first day of shoot that Namitha had to calm him down by cracking jokes between takes.
• In 'Englishkaran' (2005), Sakthi played a village bumpkin who fakes an English accent. Namitha, who actually spoke good English, would deliberately flub her lines in Tamil to make him laugh — and the director kept those genuine laugh-out-takes in the final cut because audiences loved the natural banter.
• During the shoot of 'Kovai Brothers' (2006), Namitha found out Sakthi was terrified of heights. She spent an entire afternoon coaxing him onto a rooftop set by promising to buy him biryani if he did the scene in one take. He did it — and she actually bought him biryani every single day for the rest of the schedule.
• Namitha once told a behind-the-scenes crew: 'Sakthi is the only hero who never once tried to flirt with me on set. He treated me like his little sister. That's why I did five more films with him — he made me feel safe.'
• Their 2007 film 'Viyabari' was the first Tamil movie to feature a heroine driving a luxury car in a chase sequence — Namitha insisted on doing the driving herself. That scene directly inspired a similar car-chase in a later Vijay film, though nobody credits them for it.
• In 'Sandai' (2008), Sakthi had to perform a fight scene while holding Namitha's hand. He kept accidentally pulling her too hard. On the third retake, Namitha whispered: 'Just pretend I'm a bag of rice.' He laughed so hard they had to cut — but that take became the final shot because the director loved the spontaneous smile on Sakthi's face.
