• Venniradai Moorthy was already a veteran character actor when Lakshmi was cast opposite him in Thikku Theriyadha Kattil (1972). She was just 19 and making her Tamil debut — he reportedly helped her with Tamil dialogue delivery on set, which she later said saved her career.
• In Raja Rishi (1985), Moorthy played a blind sage and Lakshmi played his devoted wife. The entire emotional weight of the film rested on their silent exchanges — Moorthy would set a slow, meditative pace, and Lakshmi matched it with micro-expressions. No other co-star gave him that stillness.
• Lakshmi once said in an interview that Moorthy was the only co-star who would call her by her real name (not her screen name) on set. He also insisted she eat with the crew instead of alone in her vanity van — a small thing that made her feel less like a star and more like family.
