But the director, SP Muthuraman, paired them specifically because he wanted a mature, grounded presence to balance Nalini's youthful energy — and Moorthy's deadpan delivery became the anchor for her more expressive performance.
• In 'Uyirullavarai Usha' (1983), Moorthy and Nalini played a married couple navigating everyday tensions.
