• Venniradai Moorthy was a popular comedian, but Sivaji Ganesan personally requested him for a serious role in Iru Medhaigal (1984). Moorthy later said he was nervous acting opposite the legend, but Sivaji told him, 'Just be yourself.'
• In Iru Medhaigal, Sivaji played a blind father and Moorthy played his loyal friend. Sivaji deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in emotional scenes so Moorthy could match his rhythm — something he rarely did for other co-stars.
• During the shoot of Raja Rishi (1985), Moorthy would bring homemade snacks for Sivaji every day. Sivaji, in turn, insisted Moorthy sit next to him in the make-up room — a privilege usually reserved for senior actors.
