• They first shared screen space in Aankhen (1993), but the real spark came a decade later. Amitabh was initially hesitant to play Paresh's on-screen father in Baghban (2003) — he felt the age gap wasn't convincing enough. Paresh personally convinced him by pointing out that Amitabh's own father was older than Paresh in real life.
• In Cheeni Kum (2007), Paresh played Amitabh's 64-year-old father — even though Paresh is only 10 years younger than Amitabh in real life. The trick? Paresh deliberately slowed his speech and added a slight stoop, while Amitabh played up his character's arrogance. They built the father-son tension by never looking each other in the eye during arguments.
• Their pairing in Paa (2009) directly inspired the casting of 102 Not Out (2018). Director Umesh Shukla saw how effortlessly they switched between comedy and emotion in Paa and wrote the father-son script specifically for them. No other actors were considered.
• On the sets of Rann (2010), Paresh would make Amitabh laugh so hard during serious scenes that director Ram Gopal Varma had to shoot their confrontations separately. Amitabh later admitted in a blog that Paresh's improvisations were 'the only thing that broke my concentration in 40 years.'
• Paresh Rawal on Amitabh: 'He is the only actor who can make you feel like you're acting with a mountain. But when the camera rolls, he becomes your scene partner — not a star. In 102 Not Out, he insisted we rehearse every scene like a play, even though he had memorised his lines before I did.'
