• Mahesh Bhatt cast Rahul Roy in 'Aashiqui' (1990) after seeing him in a TV ad. Roy had zero film experience. Bhatt bet the entire film on a newcomer because he wanted a fresh face — no baggage, no star tantrums.
• On the set of 'Junoon' (1992), Bhatt pushed Roy to drop all his rehearsed expressions. He told Roy to just react in the moment. That raw, unpolished energy became Roy's signature — and it only worked because Bhatt trusted him to mess up and still keep the camera rolling.
