• In 'Army' (1996), Danny Denzongpa was cast as the villain first. He personally suggested Mohnish Bahl for the role of the hero's friend, because he wanted a younger actor who could match his intensity in the climax fight scene.
• In 'Ek Hindustani' (2002), Danny played a ruthless smuggler and Mohnish played a cop. Danny deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene to make Mohnish's angry reactions land harder — Mohnish later said he had to 'fight the urge to blink' during that take.
• During the shoot of 'Jai Ho' (2014), Danny and Mohnish shared a vanity van for three weeks. Mohnish would bring homemade momos from his wife's kitchen every morning; Danny taught him how to roll a perfect joint in return. They still call each other 'Momos' and 'Rolls'.
• Mohnish Bahl on working with Danny in 'Army': 'He doesn't act. He just stands there and you feel the temperature drop. I had to remind myself I was the hero.'
• The fight choreography between Danny and Mohnish in 'Army' (1996) was so raw that the director, Raam Shetty, reused the exact same blocking for a fight in his next film 'Chandralekha' (1997) — swapping in a younger villain to copy Danny's moves.
