• Amrish Puri was 20 years older than Amrita Singh, but she was the bigger star when they first worked together in Duniya (1984). He was still shaking off the 'Mogambo' tag; she was already a rising name. The director paired them specifically to give Puri a younger, more commercial edge.
• In Batwara (1989), Puri played a feudal patriarch and Singh played his rebellious daughter-in-law. Their scenes crackle because Puri deliberately underplayed his rage, letting Singh's loud defiance do the heavy lifting. He told a trade magazine later that he 'fed her the scene' — meaning he held back so her outbursts would land harder.
• On the sets of Khoon Bahaa Ganga Mein (1988) — a film so bad it scored 1/10 — Puri and Singh reportedly spent most of their downtime laughing at the script. A crew member recalled that Singh would read her lines aloud, and Puri would crack up, then they'd both improvise ridiculous alternatives just to get through the day.
