Raghavendra Rao paired them after seeing Shoma's energy in a small role — he wanted someone who could match Shakti's over-the-top style without getting overshadowed.
• In Dariya Dil (1988), Shakti played the villain and Shoma played his love interest — a rare combo where the hero's sister falls for the antagonist.
