Partnership facts

• They first met on the sets of Anwar (2007), but the director Mani Shankar didn't pair them as a comedy duo. Sanjay played a poet, Rajpal a cop. They barely shared screen time. Their real partnership started only after that film flopped and both were looking for work.
• In Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat (2015), Sanjay Mishra played the straight man to Rajpal's chaos. Sanjay later admitted in an interview that he deliberately slowed down his delivery so Rajpal's frantic energy would pop more. He said, 'If I also go fast, the audience gets tired.'
• During the shoot of Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq (2015), Rajpal Yadav's father passed away. Sanjay Mishra quietly took over Rajpal's scenes for two days, mimicking his body language so the director could edit around it. Rajpal never publicly thanked him, but Sanjay told a mutual friend, 'He didn't need to say anything.'
• Their only hit together, Mr Black Mr White (2019), was a low-budget comedy that directly inspired a web series on Amazon Mini TV called 'Black White' in 2021. The series used the same 'good twin vs evil twin' premise but swapped the actors. Neither Sanjay nor Rajpal were approached for it.
• Rajpal Yadav once said about Sanjay Mishra: 'He is the only actor who can make me laugh even when I am crying. On the set of Choron Ki Baraat, I was genuinely upset about a scene, and he just looked at me with those big eyes and I burst out laughing. The director kept the take.'
• In C Kkompany (2008), they played rival gangsters. Sanjay Mishra improvised a scene where he kept calling Rajpal 'bhai' in a deadpan voice, while Rajpal responded with increasingly absurd threats. The director later said that entire 4-minute sequence was unscripted — they just kept going until the camera ran out of film.
