• They first met on the sets of 'Oh, My God' (2008) — a film neither of them was originally cast in. The director, Ashwini Chaudhary, brought them in last minute to replace another actor duo who dropped out. Shukla and Pathak had never shared a scene before that day.
• In 'Raat Gayi Baat Gayi?' (2009), Shukla played the loud, impulsive friend while Pathak played the anxious, overthinking one. They built the entire comic rhythm around this push-pull: Shukla would speed up his lines to rattle Pathak, and Pathak would pause longer to throw Shukla off. The director let them rehearse each scene 10-12 times just to find that exact imbalance.
• During the shoot of 'Utt Pataang' (2011), the two shared a tiny hotel room in a small town near Mumbai for three weeks because the production budget was too low for separate rooms. Pathak later said they spent nights rewriting each other's dialogues on napkins, and that's where their real friendship clicked.
• Vinay Pathak once said about Shukla: 'He is the only actor who can make me forget my lines because I'm laughing so hard at his improvisation. And then he'll just pick up my dialogue and finish it for me.' — from a 2015 interview with The Hindu.
• Their 2015 film 'Kaagaz Ke Fools' was the first Hindi movie to be entirely crowdfunded by a single donor — a fan who loved their earlier work together. The donor specifically said he funded it because he wanted to see 'the Shukla-Pathak jodi' again on screen.
