• Rama Narayanan cast S. Ve. Shekher in 'Seerum Singangal' (1983) after seeing him perform a comedy bit on stage. Shekher was a theatre actor with zero film experience. Rama took a risk — and that film launched Shekher's screen career.
• On the sets of 'Thiruttu Rajakkal' (1984), Rama Narayanan would give Shekher just a one-line situation — no written dialogue. Shekher would then improvise the entire comedy track in one take. Rama never asked for retakes. He said Shekher's first take was always the best.
• Rama Narayanan and S. Ve. Shekher had a standing ritual: before every film's first day shoot, they'd share a cup of filter coffee at the same shop in Kodambakkam. They did this for all seven films, without fail, from 1983 to 2000.
• The success of 'Thangamana Purushan' (1989) directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast S. Ve. Shekher as the comedy lead in his own films. Ravikumar has said in interviews that he watched that film's comedy track five times in theatres to study how Shekher and Rama's timing worked.
• S. Ve. Shekher once said: 'Rama Narayanan gave me my first break, but more than that — he gave me the freedom to fail. He never once told me 'do it this way'. He let me find my own comedy voice.'
• In 'Sahadevan Mahadevan' (1988), Rama Narayanan deliberately wrote a scene where Shekher's character had to react silently for three full minutes — no dialogue, just facial expressions. Rama told the crew he wanted to prove Shekher could hold an audience without a single word. That scene became a talking point among Tamil comedy fans.
