Kandha Kadamba Kathir Vela is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language comedy film written and directed by Rama Narayanan. The film stars Prabhu, S. Ve. Shekher, Vivek, and Vadivelu in lead roles. The story follows Parvathi, a wealthy and arrogant mother who disowns her daughter for marrying a poor barber and tries to control her three sons' marriages. Her son-in-law, Vadivelan, plots to teach her a lesson by helping the sons marry for love. The film is a loose remake of the 1969 Tamil film Poova Thalaiya. It received mixed reviews for its predictable plot and crude comedy but was noted for its family-centric theme. The movie was later remade in Kannada as Namma Samsara Ananda Sagara in 2001.
