• Randhir Kapoor directed Amitabh in 'Pukar' (1983) — it was the only time a Kapoor family member directed Big B. Randhir had to convince his father Raj Kapoor to let him cast Amitabh, who was already a superstar.
• In 'Pukar', Amitabh played a blind man — and Randhir, as director, made him rehearse every scene with his eyes closed for hours before the camera rolled. Amitabh later said that prep gave him the most physically demanding performance of his career.
• Amitabh and Randhir were childhood friends — they went to the same school (Sherwood College, Nainital) and later shared a flat in Mumbai when both were struggling actors. Randhir once said Amitabh used to cook for him.
• Their second film 'Armaan' (2003) was the only time Amitabh played a negative role opposite a Kapoor family member. The film flopped, but Amitabh's villain act later inspired his casting in 'Bhoothnath' — where he played a ghost with shades of grey.
• Randhir Kapoor on Amitabh: 'He is the only actor who would call me 'Randhir' on set. Everyone else called me 'sir' or 'bhai'. That's how close we were.'
