• Their first film together, Ganga Ki Kasam (1998), was a B-grade action flick where Mithun played a double role. Dalip Tahil was cast as the villain — a role he took specifically because he wanted to work with Mithun, who was already a star. Tahil later said he learned more about screen presence in that one shoot than in years of theatre.
• In Phool Aur Aag (1999), Mithun and Tahil played brothers — one good, one bad. The entire emotional weight of the climax rests on a single scene where Tahil’s character has to break down in front of Mithun. Tahil later admitted he couldn't cry on cue, so Mithun quietly whispered a real-life tragedy in his ear right before the take. The tears you see are real.
• Despite making four films together over 23 years, Mithun and Tahil never once had a meal together off-set. Tahil once joked in an interview that Mithun was so disciplined about his diet and sleep that the only time they spoke was between takes — and even then, it was about the scene, not life.
• Dalip Tahil on Mithun: 'He doesn't act. He just becomes. I had to work twice as hard to match his energy. In Zindagi Tere Naam (2012), I was playing his friend, and every time I looked at him, I forgot my lines — because he was so present.'
• Their last film together, 12 'o' CLOCK (2021), was a low-budget horror thriller that barely released in theatres. But it became a minor cult hit on streaming — largely because fans of both actors started a meme comparing Tahil's 'evil doctor' look to Mithun's 'Disco Dancer' era. The hashtag #MithunVsTahil trended for a weekend on Twitter India.
