• Ranjeet was the bigger star when they first worked together in 'Hum Se Badkar Kaun' (1981). Mithun was still finding his footing after 'Mrigayaa'. The director paired them specifically to give Mithun a villain who could match his physical intensity — Ranjeet's sneer against Mithun's raw energy.
• In 'Meri Zabaan' (1989), Ranjeet played the heavy while Mithun played the hero. But the real trick was how they traded screen time: Ranjeet would slow his dialogue delivery to a crawl, forcing Mithun to react with his eyes instead of his fists. That push-pull made their confrontations feel tense, not just loud.
• Despite playing bitter rivals on screen, Mithun and Ranjeet were known to share the same makeup van on the sets of 'Maa Kasam' (1985). Ranjeet later said Mithun would insist on it because he didn't want the 'villain' to feel isolated from the lead actor.
