• Raj Sippy cast Akshay Kumar in Saugandh (1991) after seeing him model in a toothpaste ad. Akshay had no film offers at the time — Sippy took a chance on a rookie with zero acting experience.
• On the set of Mr Bond (1992), Akshay kept pushing for more action stunts. Raj Sippy had to rein him in — telling him to save the high-risk moves for the climax so the crew wouldn't lose their lead actor halfway through the shoot.
• After Ikke Pe Ikka (1994) flopped hard, Raj Sippy never directed another film. Akshay, however, stayed loyal — he attended Sippy's daughter's wedding years later, long after their professional partnership had ended.
