• Anil Kapoor was already a star by 1986, but he personally asked director Sudarshan Rattan to cast Asrani as the comic sidekick in Insaaf Ki Awaaz. Anil had seen Asrani's work in Sholay and wanted that same energy in his film.
• In Rakhwala (1989), Asrani's character was written as a nervous, stammering informant. Anil Kapoor deliberately slowed down his own dialogue delivery in their scenes together, matching Asrani's rhythm so the comedy didn't feel rushed. Asrani later said Anil 'gave him the beat' to land every joke.
• During the shoot of Gurudev (1993), Asrani's mother passed away. Anil Kapoor quietly arranged for a car to take Asrani to the cremation and then rescheduled the entire week's shoot so Asrani could grieve without losing work. They never spoke about it publicly.
• Asrani once told a film magazine: 'Anil is the only hero who never treated me like a sidekick. On set, he'd ask me, 'Bhai, yeh line kaise bolun?' He made me feel like a co-star, not a comedian.'
• The comic duo of Anil Kapoor and Asrani in Insaaf Ki Awaaz was so well-received that the director immediately wrote a bigger comic subplot for them in Rakhwala. That film's success convinced producer K.C. Bokadia to cast Asrani in three more of his action films with other heroes.
