• Padmini Kolhapure was just 15 when she shot Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980) with Raj Babbar, who was 28. The film’s bold subject — a woman fighting a rape case — made the age gap a talking point on set, but Babbar later said her maturity surprised everyone.
• In Mazdoor (1983), Babbar played a labour leader and Kolhapure his wife. She later admitted that his raw, method-style intensity on set made her cry in one scene — not because of the script, but because he refused to break character even between takes, forcing her to stay in the moment too.
• Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980) was one of the first mainstream Hindi films to openly discuss marital rape and legal loopholes.
