• They first shared screen space in LOC Kargil (2003), but neither was the original choice for their roles. The director J.P. Dutta cast them after the first picks fell through — and both ended up playing real-life soldiers in the same battalion.
• In Yuva (2004), Mani Ratnam deliberately pitted them against each other as ideological opposites. Ajay played the cold-blooded political fixer; Abhishek played the naive idealist. Their only real scene together is a tense face-off — and it's the film's most replayed moment.
• Bol Bachchan (2012) was a direct remake of the 1979 classic 'Gol Maal' — but the twist was that Abhishek played the Amol Palekar role while Ajay played the Utpal Dutt role. That casting switch made the film a hit, and it later inspired a wave of gender-swapped remakes in Bollywood.
