• Senthil and Malaysia Vasudevan were paired together because director R. Sundarrajan needed a comic duo that could also sing. Vasudevan was primarily a singer, but Sundarrajan saw his comic timing in a stage play and cast him opposite Senthil in 'Sirai Paravai' (1987) — making Vasudevan's acting debut at age 40.
• In 'Uzhavan Magan' (1987), Senthil would set up the joke with his physical comedy, then Vasudevan would deliver the punchline with his deep, musical voice. They never stepped on each other's lines — Senthil later said Vasudevan's timing was 'like a metronome'.
• During the shoot of 'Rasave Unnai Nambi' (1988), Senthil and Vasudevan shared a room in a small lodge in Tenkasi. Every night after pack-up, Vasudevan would sing old film songs while Senthil fell asleep — Senthil called it 'free lullaby therapy'.
• Their double-act in 'Sirai Paravai' (1987) directly inspired director K. Bhagyaraj to cast them together again in 'Uzhavan Magan' (1987) — but only after Bhagyaraj made them audition their comedy scene live in front of the crew. That scene became the most replayed comedy track on Tamil TV in the 1990s.
• Senthil once told a magazine: 'Malaysia Vasudevan was the only co-star who could make me laugh so hard during a take that the director had to cut. He'd whisper a joke in Malayalam right before my dialogue, and I'd lose it.'
