• Abhishek Bachchan's first-ever film role was in J.P. Dutta's 'Refugee' (2000). Dutta cast him after seeing his screen test, but only after Abhishek's father, Amitabh Bachchan, personally requested Dutta to give his son a break — a rare instance of a superstar dad pulling strings for a debut.
• On the sets of 'LOC Kargil' (2003), Dutta made Abhishek rehearse his lines in a freezing tent for hours to get the exhaustion of a real soldier. Abhishek later said Dutta's method was to 'break you down until you're not acting anymore' — that raw, tired delivery became the film's emotional core.
• Because of their work on 'Refugee', Dutta introduced Abhishek to his future wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan — she played the female lead in that film. The two didn't start dating until years later, but that first meeting on Dutta's set is where they met.
