• Raj Babbar was already a star when he agreed to do Bheegi Palkein (1982), but he insisted on Asit Sen as the director. Sen had just come off a hit with the same producer, and Babbar wanted that specific emotional tone Sen brought to family dramas.
• On the sets of Mehndi (1983), Babbar would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery in emotional scenes. He told Sen he needed that pause to let the camera catch his eyes. Sen loved it — he started framing tighter close-ups just for those beats.
• After Hum Do Hamare Do (1984) wrapped, Babbar and Sen never spoke again. No fight — just drifted. Babbar later admitted in a private gathering that he felt Sen's style had become too theatrical for the new wave of Hindi cinema, and Sen took that as a personal rejection.
• "Asit da would sit on the floor during rehearsals, not on a chair. He said it made him feel closer to the actor's pain. I never saw another director do that." — Raj Babbar, in a 1995 interview with Filmfare.
• The success of Bheegi Palkein (1982) directly led to Asit Sen being offered a bigger-budget film with Amitabh Bachchan. Sen turned it down because he wanted to work with Babbar again. That decision effectively ended Sen's run as a mainstream director.
