• Sanjeev Kumar was 20 years older than Poonam Dhillon when they first worked together in Biwi-O-Biwi (1981). He was already a veteran; she was just 19. The age gap was the whole joke of the film — he played her much older husband.
• In Sawaal (1982), Sanjeev Kumar played a stern father figure to Poonam Dhillon's character. Their scenes together had zero romance — just tension. He reportedly told her on set: 'You have to fight back in your eyes, not your voice.' She later said that note changed how she acted in confrontational scenes.
• Poonam Dhillon has said in interviews that Sanjeev Kumar was the only co-star who would call her 'beta' (child) off-screen. He treated her like a daughter, not a leading lady. They never hung out socially — he was too old-school and she was too young.
