Trivia
- The film's title 'Dhol' refers to a traditional Indian drum, but the movie has no major connection to music or drums.
- Director Priyadarshan is known for remaking South Indian films, and 'Dhol' is inspired by the Malayalam movie 'In Harihar Nagar'.
- Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who plays one of the friends, was also in Priyadarshan's hit comedy 'Golmaal' the previous year.
- The movie was shot quickly, reportedly in a schedule of just 30 to 40 days, which was common for Priyadarshan's comedies.
- Despite being a comedy, the film includes a subplot involving a mysterious neighbor, adding a slight thriller element.
- The film's release faced competition from bigger movies, which affected its initial box office performance.
- Some of the comic scenes were improvised by the actors during filming to make them funnier.
