
Parineeta(2005)
Parineeta is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language musical romance film directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The lead cast includes Vidya Balan in her debut role as Lalita, Saif Ali Khan as Shekhar Roy, and Sanjay Dutt as Girish Sharma. The story is set in 1960s Kolkata and follows the lifelong romance between Lalita and Shekhar, which is disrupted by the arrival of a wealthy, kind-hearted man named Girish. The film is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1914 Bengali novella of the same name. It was praised for its period-accurate sets, strong performances, and soulful music composed by Shantanu Moitra. Parineeta won 19 awards, including several Filmfare Awards. The film was a commercial success and is considered a milestone in modern Hindi cinema. It was released on 10 June 2005.

Storyline
Lalita and Shekhar are childhood neighbours in 1960s Kolkata who secretly love each other. When a wealthy businessman named Girish enters their lives, Shekhar's jealousy drives them apart. Lalita agrees to marry Girish to save her family. Shekhar must overcome his pride and win her back before it is too late.
