Trivia

  • The film was originally titled 'Policewala Gunda' before being renamed to 'Police Officer'.
  • It was one of the few films where actor Mithun Chakraborty played dual roles as both a cop and a conman.
  • The movie's climax was shot in a large indoor set designed to look like a factory or warehouse, common for action films of that era.
  • Director Ashok Gaekwad was primarily known as a cinematographer and had worked on many successful films before directing this.
  • The soundtrack, composed by Bappi Lahiri, included a popular dance number 'Pyar Ka Imtihan' sung by Alisha Chinai.
  • Despite being an action film, it underperformed at the box office compared to Mithun's other hits from the early 1990s.
  • The film's plot of a twin replacing his brother drew comparisons to earlier Bollywood movies like 'Seeta Aur Geeta' and 'Ram Aur Shyam'.
