• They first shared screen space in 'Ram Lakhan' (1989) because Subhash Ghai needed two distinct villains who could bounce off each other. Gulshan was the slick, urban bad guy; Paresh was the rustic, loud one. Ghai deliberately cast them as a contrast pair — and it worked so well that they became a go-to villain duo for the next decade.
• In 'Sir' (1993), Paresh Rawal played the comic sidekick to Gulshan Grover's main villain. But on set, Paresh kept improvising lines that made Gulshan break character. Gulshan later admitted that Paresh's timing forced him to sharpen his own reactions — he couldn't just rely on his 'bad man' smirk anymore.
• Their pairing in 'Angaaray' (1998) directly inspired the makers of the 2002 film 'Hathyar' to cast them again as a father-son criminal duo. That film, in turn, launched a young Rohan Kapoor as their on-screen grandson — a career that wouldn't have started without the Gulshan-Paresh dynamic.
• Despite playing rivals on screen, Gulshan and Paresh shared a running joke: whoever finished their shot first had to buy the other a plate of kebabs from the nearest dhaba. This started during 'Dushman Zamana' (1992) and continued through 'Fool n Final' (2007). Gulshan still owes Paresh two plates from the last film.
• Gulshan Grover once said about Paresh Rawal: 'He is the only actor who can make me laugh while I'm trying to look scary. In 'Sir', he'd whisper a joke right before the camera rolled, and I'd have to bite my cheek to keep a straight face.'
• In 'Fun 2shh: Dudes in the 10th Century' (2003), they played bumbling medieval sidekicks — a complete reversal of their usual villain roles. Paresh set the comic rhythm, and Gulshan followed his lead, deliberately underplaying his lines to let Paresh's absurdity land harder. It's the only film where Gulshan plays second fiddle to Paresh's comedy.
