- The film's title was inspired by a line from the 1975 film Sholay, where the character Basanti says 'Dil dhadakne do.'
- Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah, who play a married couple, had previously played siblings in the 1999 film Taal.
- The cruise ship scenes were filmed on the MSC Splendida during an actual 10-day Mediterranean cruise with passengers.
- Rahul Bose's character, Sunny Gill, was originally written to be much older before the actor was cast.
- The dog in the film, Pluto Mehra, is voiced by Aamir Khan, marking his first voiceover role.
