Vikram(1986)
Vikram is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language action spy film directed by Rajasekhar and written by Kamal Haasan and Sujatha. The film stars Kamal Haasan as Commander Arun Kumar Vikram, a RAW agent, alongside Sathyaraj, Amjad Khan, Lissy, Dimple Kapadia, Charuhasan, and Janagaraj. The story follows Vikram as he is called back to duty after a nuclear-capable ICBM named Agni Putra is stolen by the international criminal Sugirtharaja. With his pregnant wife killed by a sniper, Vikram pursues the missile to the fictional Kingdom of Salamia, where he must navigate palace politics, a love triangle, and a reprogrammed missile aimed at New Delhi. The film is notable for being the first Indian film to use a computer for recording songs and for featuring a made-up language created by Kamal Haasan for the Salamia sequences. It received mixed reviews but was a commercial success, grossing approximately ₹8 crore worldwide. The film was released on 29 May 1986 and later inspired a spiritual successor of the same name in 2022.
