• Kamal Haasan personally requested Ambika for Sakalakala Vallavan (1982) after seeing her in a small role. He told the director she had the comic timing the film needed. That film became their first big hit together.
• In Vikram (1986), Ambika played a double role — and Kamal insisted she shoot the climax fight scene without a stunt double. He choreographed the moves himself to make her look convincing. She later said it was the most physically demanding scene of her career.
• During the shoot of Kaakki Sattai (1985), Ambika was going through a personal crisis. Kamal would drive her home after late-night shoots, often stopping for coffee and talking for hours. She later called him her 'emotional anchor' during that period.
• Their pairing in Kadhal Parisu (1987) directly inspired director K. Balachander to cast them again in a TV serial years later — but the project never materialized. That script later became the basis for a popular 2000s Tamil soap opera.
• Ambika once said in a 1990 interview: 'Kamal never treated me like a heroine. He treated me like a co-actor. He would rehearse with me for hours until I got the scene right, even if it meant delaying his own shot.'
• In Naanum Oru Thozhilali (1986), Kamal deliberately underplayed his performance in their romantic scenes. He told Ambika to take the lead in those moments. The result was a rare Tamil film where the heroine drives the emotional arc, not the hero.
