Punniya Boomi(1978)
Punniya Boomi is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by K. Vijayan. It stars Sivaji Ganesan in a dual role as Manickam and Raju, alongside Vanisri as Lakshmi. The supporting cast includes M. N. Nambiar as the antagonist Nagalingam, V. K. Ramasamy, and Manorama. The film is a remake of the 1957 Hindi film Mother India and the 1971 Telugu film Bangaru Thalli. The story follows a poor village family trapped in debt and a mother who must make an impossible sacrifice to protect her land and honor. The film was praised for its emotional depth and strong performances, particularly by Vanisri. It was released on 12 May 1978.

Storyline
Lakshmi is a poor village mother fighting to keep her family's land from a cruel moneylender. Her husband is weak, and her two sons grow up differently. The younger son turns to crime and plans a terrible revenge. Lakshmi must choose between her son's life and her family's honor.
