Parinda (1989) is a Hindi-language crime thriller film directed, produced, and distributed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film stars Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Madhuri Dixit. The story follows two orphaned brothers, Kishan and Karan, who end up on opposite sides of a gang war in Bombay. Kishan works for the ruthless gangster Anna, while Karan seeks revenge for his friend's murder. The film is noted for its realistic visual style, using natural lighting and shadow-heavy cinematography inspired by The Godfather. Parinda won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Nana Patekar and Best Editing for Renu Saluja. It also won five Filmfare Awards, including Best Director and Best Actor. The film was India's official submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was released on 3 November 1989 and is available on Netflix.

Storyline
Two orphaned brothers, Kishan and Karan, are torn apart by the criminal world of Bombay. Kishan works for a violent gangster named Anna to support his younger brother. When Karan returns from America, he discovers the truth and seeks revenge. Brother is pitted against brother in a brutal war that ends in tragedy.
