Shroff was already a star; Patekar was still a theatre guy. Chopra paired them specifically to create a clash of styles — and it worked so well that the film launched both into a new league of serious acting.
• In Parinda, Shroff played the emotional, impulsive brother while Patekar played the cold, calculating villain. Shroff later said Patekar’s intensity on set made him raise his own game — he started improvising lines to match Patekar’s unpredictable energy.
