Trivia

  • The film's title 'Ezhumalai' is the name of a real-life village in Tamil Nadu, though the story is not directly based on events there.
  • Director and lead actor Arjun Sarja performed many of his own stunts, including a risky fight sequence on a moving train.
  • The movie's soundtrack by Deva was a major hit, with the song 'Kadhal Vandhale' gaining particular popularity on radio.
  • This was one of the few films where actress Namitha played a significant dramatic role early in her career, before her shift to more glamorous parts.
  • A subplot involving the hero's friendship with a local auto-rickshaw driver was added to provide comic relief in the intense revenge drama.
  • The climax was shot over 15 days in a specially constructed set to depict the villain's fortified estate.
  • Despite mixed reviews, the film had a strong opening weekend due to Arjun Sarja's fan following from previous action hits.
