Trivia
- The film's director Raj Kapoor is not the famous Bollywood legend, but a different Tamil filmmaker with the same name.
- This was one of the few 1990s Tamil films where actor Prabhu played a character who starts as a coward and transforms into a hero.
- The movie was released during a period when Prabhu and director Raj Kapoor collaborated on multiple films, like 'Suriyan' and 'Chinna Gounder'.
- The title 'Chinna Jameen' translates to 'Small Land', metaphorically referring to the protagonist's initially limited courage and standing.
- The film's soundtrack by Ilaiyaraaja was moderately successful, with the song 'Oruvan Oruvan' gaining some popularity.
- Actor Nizhalgal Ravi, known for villain roles, played the controlling uncle Ratnavelu, creating a contrast with Prabhu's gentle character.
- The plot shares similarities with classic tales of a meek man's transformation, a recurring theme in late 80s and early 90s Tamil cinema.
