Trivia

  • The film was initially titled 'Sakthivel' but was changed to 'Pangali' before release.
  • Director K. Subash was known for action films and this was his only collaboration with actor Vijayakanth.
  • The movie's climax was shot in a specially constructed large mansion set to depict the villain's house.
  • Comedian Goundamani had a significant role, with his comedy track written separately to balance the intense revenge plot.
  • The film released during a crowded festival season and faced tough competition from other major star films.
  • A real elephant was used in a key action sequence, which was a rare and expensive setup for a 1990s Tamil film.
  • The background score by Ilaiyaraaja reused a theme from his earlier hit 'Nallavanukku Nallavan' (1984) for emotional scenes.
