Rakshita (born March 31, 1984, in Bengaluru) is a Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil film actress, daughter of cinematographer B.C. Gowrishankar and actress Mamatha Rao. She rose to prominence with the trilingual debut film Appu/Idiot/Dum (2002–2003), starring opposite Puneeth Rajkumar in Kannada and Vijay in Tamil. She appeared in major Telugu productions including Nijam (2003) with Mahesh Babu, Andhrawala (2004) opposite Jr. NTR, and Madhurey (2004), establishing a strong presence in South Indian commercial cinema. She later married Kannada director Prem Kumar in 2007 and transitioned into film production.
