• Their first film together, Pondatti Rajyam (1992), was a low-budget comedy where Kovai Sarala was already a known face from stage. Pandu was a newcomer. The director paired them because Sarala's timing needed a straight man who wouldn't try to out-laugh her — and Pandu just stood there, letting her do the work.
• In Thenkasi Pattanam (2002), Pandu played the flustered husband while Sarala played the loud, nagging wife. The trick was: Pandu would deliberately pause his lines a beat too long, forcing Sarala to fill the silence with improvised insults. That's why their arguments feel so real — she was actually reacting in real time.
• Their pairing in Kanchana 2 (2015) directly inspired the comedy track in the 2018 horror-comedy Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu. The director admitted in an interview that he rewatched their scenes from Kanchana 2 to study how to balance scares with Sarala-style loud comedy.
• On the sets of Shahjahan (2001), Pandu would bring homemade snacks for the crew every day. Kovai Sarala later revealed that he always packed extra for her because she forgot to eat during long shoots. She said he never once asked if she wanted food — he just placed it next to her chair.
