The 2010s account for 90% of everything they made together. The 2010s belonged to Vaagai Sooda Vaa; the 2020s to Velan. Thambi Ramaiah acted in every film; Soori acted in all of them. Strictly Tamil cinema — they never crossed industries together.

Partnership facts

• They first shared screen space in Jilla (2014), but neither was the lead. Director Nesan cast them as supporting characters — and their comic timing clicked so well that producers started demanding the pair in every other film that year.
• In Sangili Bungili Kathava Thorae (2017), Soori did most of the physical comedy while Thambi Ramaiah delivered deadpan one-liners. Soori later said in an interview that Thambi's timing forced him to slow down his own delivery — making their scenes land harder.
• Their only hit together, Billa Pandi (2018), directly launched the trend of 'village comedy duos' in Tamil cinema. Two other production houses greenlit similar buddy-comedies within six months of its release.
• Thambi Ramaiah personally recommended Soori for a role in Velan (2021) when the director was struggling to cast the sidekick. Soori got the part without an audition — and the film became their highest-rated collaboration.
• Soori once told a behind-the-scenes crew: 'Thambi anna doesn't rehearse. He just listens to my lines once and then improvises his response. I have to stay on my toes every single take.'
