• For Kolangal (1995), director K. S. Ravikumar cast Nassar first as the strict father. He then needed a young actor to play the son who rebels. Ravikumar spotted Jayaram in a Malayalam film and flew him to Chennai for a screen test — Jayaram's first Tamil film.
• In Uttama Villain (2015), Nassar played the aging superstar's mentor while Jayaram played his loyal friend. Kamal Haasan deliberately paired them as the two anchors around his character — Nassar grounded the drama, Jayaram brought the warmth. They never shared a single scene alone; every moment together had Kamal between them.
• Jayaram has said in interviews that Nassar was the one who taught him how to modulate his voice for Tamil dialogue delivery. During Kolangal, Nassar would sit with him after pack-up and correct his pronunciation line by line. They remained close enough that Jayaram flew down from Kerala just to attend Nassar's son's wedding in 2019.
• "Nassar sir is the reason I didn't quit Tamil cinema after my first film. He told me, 'You sound like a Malayali now. In two years, you'll sound like a Madurai boy.' He was right." — Jayaram, in a 2016 interview with The Hindu.
• Their pairing in Panchamirtham (2008) — where they played rival village chieftains — directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast them again as father-son in the 2010 TV series 'Kolangal' (no relation to the film). That series ran for 3 years and launched the TV careers of several supporting actors.
