• Raman Kumar was a theatre director before he turned to films. He cast Rakesh Bedi in his directorial debut 'Saath Saath' (1982) after seeing him in a stage play. Bedi was so nervous on the first day of shoot that Raman had to rehearse the scene with him 12 times before the camera rolled.
• On the set of 'Raahee' (1987), Raman Kumar realized Bedi was better at comic timing than dramatic scenes. So he rewrote Bedi's entire track overnight — turning a serious supporting role into a comic relief part. Bedi later said that rewrite saved his career.
• After 'Parbat Ke Us Paar' (1988) flopped, Raman Kumar stopped directing for nearly 20 years. Bedi was the one who convinced him to make 'Sarhad Paar' (2007). Bedi even worked as an uncredited associate director on that film just to get Raman back behind the camera.

• The song 'Tumse Milne Ki Tamanna Hai' from 'Saath Saath' (1982) was later sampled by a popular Indian indie band in 2015 for a YouTube cover that got 2 million views. Bedi and Raman had no idea until a fan tweeted them the link.
