• They first met on the sets of Mahanadi (1994) when Santhana Bharathi was an assistant director and Thalaivasal Vijay was a supporting actor. Vijay later said Bharathi was the only assistant who bothered to explain his scenes to him.
• In En Swasa Kaatre (1999), Santhana Bharathi played the villain while Thalaivasal Vijay played a cop. They shot the climax confrontation in one take because both actors kept improvising lines that made the other laugh — the director finally yelled 'cut' and kept it.
• After Tamizh Selvan (1996) bombed, Santhana Bharathi called Thalaivasal Vijay at 2 AM and said, 'We need to do a film that people actually watch.' That call led to them co-writing the first draft of Marudhavelu (2011) over chai at a dhaba.
• Their partnership in Puthagam (2013) directly launched composer Nivas K. Prasanna's career — he was an unknown assistant then. Both actors insisted the director give him a break after hearing his demo in Bharathi's car.
