• Pandu was a stunt coordinator before he turned director. He cast P. Vasu as the lead in 'Panakkaran' (1990) because he needed an actor who could handle his own fight scenes without a double. Vasu had already done action roles, but Pandu pushed him to choreograph his own stunts — that trust became the foundation of their partnership.
• On 'Nadigan' (1990), Pandu let P. Vasu rewrite his own dialogues during shooting. Vasu would pace the set, muttering lines in different rhythms, and Pandu would just nod and say 'do it your way.' That film became their biggest critical hit — Vasu's natural comic timing turned a routine script into something audiences still remember.
• Their 1992 film 'Rickshaw Mama' directly inspired the character template for the 1996 blockbuster 'Avvai Shanmugi' — both feature a man disguising himself as an older woman. P. Vasu played the rickshaw-puller in drag years before Kamal Haasan made it iconic. Vasu's version was broad and slapstick, but it proved the concept worked in Tamil cinema.
• After 'Thenkasi Pattanam' (2002) flopped, Pandu and P. Vasu stopped talking for nearly a decade. Vasu later admitted in a 2015 interview that he felt Pandu blamed him for the film's failure. They never patched it up properly — Pandu passed away in 2020 without them making another film together.
